Angel & Faith Volume 1: Live Through This is available today!
My review (with spoilers from Buffy Season 8. If you don’t want spoilers, just believe me it’s an awesome book and pick it up already. If you don’t mind the spoilers, be my guest to keep reading):
Best spin-off series ever. That’s how I would describe Angel & Faith. Picking up from the events of Buffy Season 8, where Angel took some bad decisions and killed Giles. Faith Lehane is the only ally Angel has now and it’s her chance to do for him what he’s done for her: Being the one person at his side, helping him to find redemption. But Angel is determined to bring Giles back from the dead. How can she be there for him if she can’t agree with this decision?
The character development of this book by writer Christos Gage is fantastic! The relationship between the two main characters is fantastically well-written, and it’s a joy to see how much Faith evolved as a character.
My favorite aspect of it, however, is how they’re exploring Giles’ past through flashbacks, introducing us to a whole new side of him, even bringing some elements from the never released series Ripper and showing how fascinating he can be. This is a must have for all Whedonites.
